What about the tax rate for farmland?

We contacted the Jefferson County Appraiser's office and asked about land values in Kaw, Kentucky, and Rural townships. Land is appraised according to a combination of use and soil type. On average, pasture ground is appraised at $70 per acre. Tillable land varies "from the hundred to three hundred range." He suggested a $200 average. Appraised value totals are then assessed at a 30% rate. For example: 100 acres of pastureland would be appraised at $7000. That value would be assessed at 30% for an assessed value of $2100. At 9.9 mills (.0099) the tax would be $20.79 per year. ($1.74 per month).
