Is there a risk having grades 5 through 12 on a single campus?
  • There are undoubtedly several questions relating to this topic. The most important one of them, however, is probably this, "Is my child going to be safe at school?" The answer is "yes - absolutely." Our school district prides itself on the safe learning environment we have established for our young people. This is due, in large part, to the wonderful staff we have. Children are supervised wherever they are by caring, professional adults.
  • The proposed school has been designed not only to maximize the efficient and effective use of staff, facilities and other resources, it has been designed to ensure appropriate separation and control of the various age groups.
  • 5th and 6th grade students do not change classes like they do in higher grades. In addition, those students are supervised continuously throughout the school day. They will not move from one portion of the building without adult supervision. In addition, traffic patterns and bell schedules will maximize effective movement of students at all levels.
  • The proposed facility is designed with 5/6 and 7/8 each having their own separate wing. Each group has important separate space, including a commons area and separate restrooms.
  • Bell schedules and traffic patterns within each building and wing will maximize effective movement of students at all levels. The most exposure younger and older students will have to each other will undoubtedly occur when they are on the bus.
  • Each of the different age level of students (5/6 - 7/8 - 9/12) will have their own separate entrances to their buildings. Buses will drop students at their separate entrances on opposite sides of the schools. Younger car riders and high school drivers will also enter their schools on opposite sides.
  • 5th and 6th grade students will have their own fenced playground area.
